Keeping you updated on how Learning For Life Autism Centre is taking care of families and team members.

Dear Friends of L4Life,

Our hope is that you, your families, colleagues and communities are healthy and managing the changes and challenges that COVID-19 is bringing daily around Australia and the world.

Below we would like to share updates on how The Learning For Life Autism Centre is adapting during this period:

Maintaining our focus on children and their families
We know change is not a friend of people on the autism spectrum. Our families will need particular support over this time as they, like every other family across Australia, continue to build on their children’s learning and the skills that they have achieved.

We are looking at all ways that we can remain connected with our families so that the social and education isolation impact is minimised wherever possible.

We have parents who do not have extended family close by, or even in Australia, and we have children for whom this interruption in their program may have a much longer-term effect. Whatever the challenge each day, our dedicated team at L4Life is monitoring and adapting to stay connected with our children, their families and teachers.

Going virtual and staying mindful of keeping our distance
Our teams, including out therapy supervisors, are meeting regularly on Zoom to roll with the changes.

We’re also looking at transitioning many of our well-loved annual events and fundraisers from in-person to digital. Our Village has been a powerhouse of friendship, care and concern, and we are forever grateful for every one of you right now. This year we will need your support more than ever.

Check back to our News & Events page for more information.

Staying safe
L4Life has provided support to all therapists in acquiring masks, so they can to continue to deliver therapy safely, and requires all staff and families to wear a mask during key times of their therapy sessions.

We continue to put therapy on hold whenever a client, their family, or a therapist is showing cold or flu-like symptoms. Anyone showing symptoms are being required to contact the COVID hotline and be tested.

Keeping our Village up to date using social media
The fastest and easiest way for us to communicate changes, news and stories is via our social media channels – particularly Facebook and Instagram.

We invite you to connect with us there and look forward to saying hello!

Our thanks and well wishes
We hope everyone in your life remains healthy, comfortable and safe while we live through these challenging days, weeks and months.

For inspiration and ideas to help you and your families with online learning, health and well being, entertainment and more, we’re compiling a list of online resources and ideas for self-isolation.

Take care and thank you especially for keeping our L4Life children and families in your thoughts at this time.
