Our thanks and farewell – Robyn and Sue
In June this year The Learning for Life Autism Centre Board made the heart-wrenching but sensible decision to suspend all face-to-face fundraising events until it is Covid-safe once more for our Village to gather in large groups without the very real risk of cancellation of the event. As you know, our long-awaited Lunch with Kitty Flanagan (co-hosted with Tom Gleisner) was necessarily cancelled in May within 12 hours of it going ahead due to the snap Lockdown #4.
In light of this decision, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our deepest thanks and gratitude to Robyn Charlton and Sue O’Shea who have played significant roles in the successes of Learning for Life’s events since 2018 and 2016 respectively.
Their hard work and commitment to running events and fundraising, both behind the scenes and at the event itself, has been awe-inspiring. Robbie’s and Sue’s collective expertise along with their passion and desire to help ensure children with ASD and their families have fair and equitable access to Learning for Life’s services have ensured that our events were successful fundraisers as well as bringing fun and joy to our Village.
Robbie has been our Events Manager with Learning for Life over the last three years, successfully planning and executing our fundraising events which included our Kwiz for Kids, L4Life Charity Golf Days, Learning for Life Crystal Gala Ball, and our Lunch with Kitty (that sadly had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The past six years has seen Sue working tirelessly, first as a Learning for Life volunteer and then, more recently as our Assistant Events Manager. Among her many roles over the last six years, Sue has been responsible for co-ordinating the auctions that are held at our events and co-ordinating our events volunteers.
We will miss seeing Robbie and Sue on a regular basis and, in thanking them once more, we also wish them success in their future endeavours.
