Welcoming the Independent NDIS Review

11 Dec 2023

The final report of the Independent NDIS Review was released on Thursday 7 December.

The report makes 26 recommendations and 139 supporting actions that aim to restore trust, confidence and pride in the NDIS through:

  • developing a unified system of support for people with disability
  • an NDIS experience centred on the whole person and their support needs
  • better support for children and adolescents through mainstream services and a significant expansion of services outside the NDIS
  • more active government involvement and stewardship of NDIS markets to make them more efficient and effective
  • improving service quality and ensuring appropriate safeguards and risk proportionate regulation.

The Australian Government will respond to the review in 2024 after considering the recommendations.

L4Life welcomes the review and its recommendations, in particular the acknowledgement and expectation that all levels of government, business, non-government organisations, service providers, and disability workers come together to ensure a system that properly supports people with disability.

We look forward to the next steps in the process of bringing people with disability back to the centre of the NDIS.
