At L4Life, we’re passionate about community-led initiatives that empower autistic and neurodivergent young people to share their voices and shape their own experiences.
That’s why we were delighted when our Head of Therapy Assistants, Clinical Consultant and Behaviour Support Practitioner, Tiff Poljakovic, was invited to facilitate a recent co-design project with the City of Boroondara.
Over three evening sessions, a group of autistic young people (aged 15–25) came together to brainstorm, share ideas, and design an event that they would love to attend themselves. With support from Tiff and the Boroondara Council, the group worked collaboratively to bring their ideas to life.
The result? The Special Interest Trivia Night – a fun, relaxed and sensory-friendly event designed entirely by and for autistic young people aged 15-25.
The Trivia Night will celebrate what matters most to the participants: their special interests. Whether guests are into trains, musical theatre, anime, gaming, or something else entirely, this event is all about sharing and celebrating the things they love.
Guests can also enjoy free slushies and popcorn in a welcoming, low-pressure, and accessible space.

This project is a wonderful example of how co-design ensures events are not only inclusive, but also genuinely reflective of the people they are designed for.
"It was such a wonderful experience to be part of the co-design project with Boroondara Council. Each planning meeting was filled with such passion and creativity from every young person involved, and I am so happy that I could help in my small way! There were so many ideas for the event that came from listening to everyone’s values and passions, and I think the resulting Special Interest Trivia Night is wonderfully reflective of all of these things." says Tiff of the experience.
Please feel free to share this event with any autistic young people in your networks who might be interested in attending.

Tiff encourages autistic young people to attend the Special Interest Trivia Night on Thursday 13 September.
